Richard L. Keeling, 67, Hillsboro died 8:10 a.m. Monday at Lane House Nursing Care Center, Crawfordsville. Mr. Keeling worked as a union carpenter and retired in 2004 after 35 years of employment with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. He was a member of Hillsboro Nazarene Church.  He had served his community as a member of the SE Fountain School Board and Hillsboro Town Council. He was the past president of both organizations. He graduated from Veedersburg HS in 1959 and was in the US Army during the Berlin Crisis from 1959-62.  He was born Feb 4, 1941 in Veedersburg, to Kenneth "Nip" and Vician "Bink" Brewer Keeling. He married Janet R. Ransom Aug 26, 1966 at the Christian Church in Kingman. She survives. Also surviving are sons Jason (Shelly) Keeling, Greenwood and Justin (Adrienne) Keeling, Noblesville; daughter Jennifer Black, Hillsboro; two grandchildren; sisters Bonnie Helms, Florissant, Mo; Shay (Jim) Andrews, El Cajon, Claif; Jolynn (Jim) Slazas, Tustin, Calif and Sonnie (Marshall) Johnston, North Salem; sister-in-law, Ann Keeling, Kingman and two cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dean Keeling and Arthur Keeling.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Dickerson Funeral HOme, Veedersburg with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating. Interment will be at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.  Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Hillsboro Nazarene Church.
